‘It’s Good to See America Lead’: Nikki Haley Received a Text Message From Inside UN After Russia Speech

U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley boldly confronted Russia and Syria during a United Nations Security Council meeting on Wednesday, staring down the Russian ambassador in moment that went viral.

“How many more children have to die before Russia cares?” she asked the Russian ambassador in front of the world.

Later that night, Haley made an appearance at the Women in the World Summit in New York City and revealed the text message she subsequently received from another member of the U.N. Security Council.

“Thank you for what you said today. It’s so good to see America lead,” the text reportedly read.

Haley insinuated that the message was meaningful to her because leading is exactly “what we’re trying to do.”

“The way you lead is to make sure they know what you’re for, they know what you’re against, and they never question where you are,” Haley added.

President Donald Trump ordered a military strike on one of Syria’s airfields on Thursday, signaling a dramatic shift in foreign policy compared to former President Barack Obama’s so-called “lead from behind” approach.

Obama was harshly criticized for his lack of action after Syria defiantly crossed his “red line” by using chemical weapons in 2013.

Trump’s military action has garnered support from many Western nations, and even Turkey — but Russia and Iran were quick to condemn the “act of aggression.”

However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday he hopes the “provocation will not lead to irreparable damage” to U.S.-Russia relations.
